Woodfill, Johnston Earn Player, Pitcher of the Week Honors
LOS ANGELES — First-year designated player Abigail Woodfill (Consumnes River College) and first-year pitcher Gracie Johnston (Grossmont College) have earned the California Community College Fastpitch Coaches Association (3CFCA) Player and Pitcher of the Week honors.
Johnston earned the first win for a Grossmont College program just returning to the field since the COVID-19 lockdown occurred. The first-year pitcher took a no-hitter into the seventh inning against College of the Desert, striking out 10 in the Griffins' 1-0 win.
Woodfill led all nominees with four extra-base hits, including her first collegiate home run in a win against Reedley College. The Hawks won three of four games during the week behind Woodfill's five RBIs, one of which was a game-winning sacrifice fly against Fresno City College in extra innings.
This is the first weekly recognition for both first-years Woodfill and Johnston.
