Feather River opposite, Solano setter, Cuesta OH Named State Players of the Week #4
Feather River's Lucy Ryan, Solano's Vanya Paopao, and Cuesta's Bailey Woodside are the CCCWVCA State Players of the Week #4.
For the second week in a row, FRC garnered a POTW award as Ryan, a 6-foot-1 sophomore from Robert McQueen High in Reno, Nevada, buried 30 kills in a pair of Golden Eagles wins wins over San Mateo and Folsom Lake. Ryan hit .383 in the two contests. She was an All-Delta Classic Tournament selection a week earlier.
Paopao, an All-NorCal Region selection as a freshman, is a product of Jesse Bethel High in Vallejo. A 6-rotation player at setter, the sophomore Paopao was a leader for the Falcons in four victories as she collected double-doubles in assists and digs in each triumph. She totaled 83 set assists, 52 digs, and seven aces. In a sweep over De Anza, Paopao dominated with eight kills (only 10 attacks), 17 assists, 11 digs, and four aces.
Woodside, a 5-9, sophomore outside hitter from St. Joseph High in Santa Maria, is a returning All-Western State Conference First Team selection who has paced the Cougars at a 3.81 kills per set average. She pounded a season-high 22 kills with 18 digs, 6 set assists and two blocks (and led the team in serve receive rating) in a match last week v. Monterey Peninsula. She landed an impressive eight aces a match earlier v. Sequoias.
