Three All-Tourney players from NorCal v. SoCal Showcase named State Players of Week #2
The California Community College Women's Volleyball Coaches Association (CCCWVCA) chose three players who each made the All-NorCal v. SoCal Showcase Tournament Team in Fresno City's Savanna FauntLeRoy, Grossmont's Andrea Torres, and Sierra's Paige Skinner as State Players of the Week #2.
FauntLeroy, a 6-foot sophomore setter from Buchanan High in Clovis, helped FCC to a 5-1 week, including wins over Pasadena City, Bakersfield, and Cypress. In six matches and 22 sets, she averaged 9.5 assists, scored 23 kills, 16 aces, and made 11 blocks. She had seven aces in a season-opening win over Hartnell and combined for 90 assists and 10 kills on the first day of the first inter-region showcase tourney held at Fresno.
Torres, a 5-11 freshman outside hitter from Otay Ranch High in Chula Vista, pushed Grossmont to wins over Fresno and Feather River as she totaled 53 kills and 41 digs in the four overall tourney matches.
Skinner, a 5-8 sophomore outside hitter from Ponderosa High in Shingle Springs, contributed 37 kills, 42 digs, and eight aces at the showcase, as Sierra tallied victories over Grossmont, Cypress, and Pasadena City. Her best match was the win over PCC as she delivered 13 kills, 10 digs and served four aces.
