RECORD SEVEN MATCH WIN STREAK FOR CSM VB
State No. 21 ranked College of San Mateo has now won a "modern record" seven consecutive women's volleyball matches after a straight sets sweep at San Jose City College this week. That surpasses the 6-game streak the Lady Bulldogs had to start their first season back, in 2016.
Bri Tellier had 32 assists and Hannah Gamez had 12 kills in the 25-11, 25-14, 25-7 win at San Jose on Wednesday. Gamez ranks No. 9 in the state in season kills with 203. Tellier also ranks among the best in the state with 257 assists, a 6.59 average per set.
CSM is 14-4 overall and 1-0 in Coast North Conference play – and will have several rough upcoming contests in a division that has four state-ranked teams.
The toughest will be on Wednesday, Oct. 10, when San Mateo hosts No. 5 Cabrillo College, arguably Northern California's top team at this point and a recent state champion. Cabrillo (11-2) recently gave Coast South leader and No. 2-ranked Gavilan (17-1) its only season loss – in straight sets. CSM also hosts district rival Skyline (4-7) on Friday (Oct. 12). Both are 6:30 p.m. contests.
