Unbeaten San Mateo and Riverside are 1-2 in JCAB poll while headlining playoff field

SAN MATEO – The top seven teams in the final regular season poll of California Community College football coaches, conducted by the JC Athletic Bureau, enter state playoffs on Saturday, joined by No. 10   Mt. San Antonio College.  College of San Mateo finished with its first 10-0 regular season record in the school’s 98-year football history and the top ranking, ahead of Riverside. It was a fourth straight Bay 6 League title for the Bulldogs, who have won 20 consecutive conference games after topping San Francisco, 45-31, Saturday.

Riverside completed a second straight 10-0 regular season with a 56-25 win over previously unbeaten Saddleback. Top seeds San Mateo, (north) and Riverside (south) have home field advantage throughout the regionals. NorCal openers pit sixth ranked Fresno at San Mateo and No. 3 American River at No. 5 (north wildcard) Modesto. SoCal: Mt. SAC at Riverside; fourth ranked Saddleback at No. 7 Canyons.  

CCCAA State Championship game is Saturday, Dec. 14, 2019 at Bakersfield College Memorial Stadium.

American Division teams will have regional championship bowl games Saturday. Four additional conference sponsored bowl games will be played in each region.
