With three individual champions and four that advanced to the finals, Fresno City College outdistanced all of the other schools to win the Meathead Movers Tournament championship on Saturday at Cuesta College. The Rams, who have also won the titles at the Sacramento City, West Hills-Lemoore at Santa Ana tournaments, will be hosting their own tournament on October 3.
The Rams finished with 206 team points and easily out-distanced second place Mt. San Antonio College, who finished with 108.5 points. They held off both Sacramento City College (103.5) and Cerritos College (101) for the second place spot.
Leading the way for the Rams was #1-seeded 133-pound Isaiah Perez, who pinned all four of his opponents, as did Ruben Garcia, who was the top seed at 157 pounds. He was slated to face teammate Conrad Lopez in the finals, but decided not to compete against each other. Abner Romero was the third individual champion for Fresno City, as the top-seed pinned his first three opponents before defeated Zack Gonzalez of Cerritos, 12-3 in the finals.
