Moorpark claims Western State women's golf title; Canyons' Kitabatake takes individual top honors
LA VERNE, Calif. - The women's golf program at Moorpark College capped off a historic season on Monday afternoon at the two-day conference championships held Oct. 27-28 at Marshall Canyon Golf Course. The Raiders hauled in the second conference title in program history after shooting 333 on day one and 323 on day two en route to the team's first undefeated (54-0) record.
Lisette Orellana led Moorpark with a third place finish after carding 150 strokes, followed by fellow teammates Taylor Waters (155 - 4th), Makayla Low (170 - 5th), and Kalai Aparicio (181 - 8th). All four also added up All-Conference honors to their status at the conclusion of the event.
Sahya Kitabatake, the individual medalist and the WSC Player of the Year, completed her dominant run through the WSC with a 36-hole score of 148 (76/72) and an even-par round of 72 on Monday. The Kobe, Japan native posted an average score of 71.44 strokes per round through nine conference rounds. During that span, she also earned tournament medalist honors at six conference events and finished as the runner-up on two occasions.
