San Joaquin Delta Cruises to 8-0 Win over Mt. SAC
SARATOGA, CA — The North's top seed San Joaquin Delta Mustangs cruised to an 8-0 win over South No. 4 seed Mt. San Antonio College in their opening game of the 2024 3C2A Softball State Championship.
Delta now awaits the winner between Cypress and Cosumnes River for a 2 p.m. matchup tomorrow at West Valley College. The Mounties will travel to San Jose City College to play the loser of that game at 2 p.m.
Jaylee Marshall led the Mustangs with a 3-3 performance at the plate with two doubles. She drove in Erica Tovar and Caitlyn Campbell in the fourth to extend Delta's lead to 4-0 as part of a four-run inning.

The Mustangs loaded the bases in the fourth inning and Tovar got the scoring going with a fielder's choice that plated Arianna Coelho. Delta benefitted from two Mounties' errors in the inning to take a commanding 5-0 lead.
Tovar singled in two runs in the fifth to force the run-rule win.
Ariel Nava was stellar in the circle, striking out four and allowing just three hits to improve to 29-3.

Cheyenne Torrez added an RBI for the Mustangs. Coelho and Hailey Kobler each scored twice.
The Mustangs improve to 39-4 overall and Mt. SAC falls to 36-10.
