Dobbs, Wheeler named 3CFCA Player and Pitcher of the Week after strong showings
GLENDORA - Taft College sophomore catcher Allie Dobbs and Mt. San Antonio College sophomore pitcher Briana Wheeler are the the 2019 California Community College Fastpitch Coaches Association (3CFCA) Week #3 Player and Pitcher of the Week. Dobbs earned the honors after a big doubleheader against Gavilan College, while Wheeler took home the award thanks to three straight strong outings against some of the top teams in the state.

Dobbs, a first-team All-Central Valley Conference selection as a freshman, got her 2019 season going in a big way this past week in a doubleheader at home versus Gavilan College. In the opening game, Dobbs went 2 for 3 the plate, hitting a pair of big home runs for the Cougars. She followed that up in the second game by belting another home run while adding two more runs on a pair of RBIs and walks. On the week, Dobbs was 3 for 6 with four runs and five RBIs. Dobbs prepped at Wasco High School in Wasco.
Briana Wheeler | Mt. San Antonio College | Sophomore | Pitcher
Wheeler had a big week for the State ranked No. 4 ranked Mt. San Antonio College Mounties. Wheeler started things off by helping the Mounties to a 2-1 win over State No. 11 El Camino College. Wheeler pitched a complete game two-hitter, surrendering one earned run, two walks, all while striking out five Warrior batters. A few days later, Wheeler and her team came up with their biggest win of the early season when they defeated State No. 2 Cypress College 5-4 in Cypress. Wheeler pitched all seven innings, scattering 10 hits, two walks, and four runs (two earned) over the complete game. Wheeler struck out 10 Chargers in the game, picking up her third win of the young season. Wheeler wasn’t done there though, as she powered out one more win before the week was up. Wheeler pitched six strong innings giving up just two hits, one walk, and no runs against Riverside City College. Wheeler fanned six batters in the win. Wheeler finished the week 3-0 with a 1.05 ERA, and giving up three earned runs, five walks, while striking out 21 batters. Wheeler prepped at Etiwanda High School and hails from Fontana.
