Lopez, Mitchell pick up 3CFCA Player of the Week accolades
GLENDORA, Calif. - The California Community College Fastpitch Coaches Association is pleased to announce its Week #7 State Player and Pitcher of the Week. Pasadena City College sophomore third baseman Angelica Lopez and sophomore pitcher Emily Mitchell of Feather River College earned the honors.
Pitcher of the Week – Emily Mitchell – Feather River College
Sophomore pitcher Emily Mitchell was 4-0 in the circle for the Golden Eagles. Mitchell posted a 1.50 ERA, in 28 innings of work, striking out 23 total batters on the week.
Mitchell’s best outing the week was a four-hit, nine-strikeout performance to close the week in the second game of the day in a 7-1 victory over Hartnell College.
Mitchell prepped at McQueen High School in Reno, NV.
Player of the Week – Angelica Lopez – Pasadena City College
In three games, all PCC victories, sophomore third baseman Angelica Lopez batted 7- for-11 (.636) with 2 walks (.692 on-base) with 3 doubles and 6 RBI (.909 slugging pct). In the team's 9-2 win at Orange Coast, she went a perfect 5-for-5 with three doubles. Lopez transferred from Odessa College in Texas but led La Serna High School (Whittier, CA) to the 2015 CIF Southern Section Division 3 title.
