Week #9 Players of the Week Announced
The California Community College Fastpitch Coaches Association is pleased to announce it's Week #9 (March 27th – April 2nd) State Pitcher and Player of the Week. Santiago Canyon College swept the honors this week as Riley Nahrwold and Emili Olague were honored for their play during the week.
Player of the Week – Emili Olague – Santiago Canyon College
Olague, a freshman, had a monster week as the Hawks faced three of the top teams in the state (Cypress, Palomar, and Mt. SAC). Olague went 6-for-12 in the four games ending the week with a .500 average. Five of her six hits were for extra bases including three home runs (two of them were two-run home runs, the other a solo shot) as well as a pair of doubles. She scored a total of five runs and drove in a total of seven RBIs. It's her second State Player of the Week nod this season. Olague prepped at Marina High School and hails from Huntington Beach, CA.
Pitcher of the Week – Riley Nahrwold – Santiago Canyon College
Sophomore Riley Nahrwold pitched a total of 16 innings during the week, 13 of which came in back to back wins on Saturday against Mt. SAC and Palomar. Riley held Mt. SAC scoreless while giving up only four hits and striking out four batters. In the match up against Palomar, Nahrwold allowed three runs on six hits. Nahrwold prepped at Sunny Hills High School and hails from Fullerton, CA.
