Cerritos, Mt. SAC emerge as SoCal powers In CCCSIA Baseball Top 25 Poll #2
(LOS ANGELES) -- Still undefeated Santa Rosa Junior College (19-0) remains #1 in the second 2025 California Community College Sports Information Association (CCCSIA) State Baseball Top 25 poll, but the rest of the rankings had a massive seismic shift.
Four new teams joined, four dropped out, and two squads entered the top 10 in #9 West Valley, a leap of five slots, and #10 Golden West as the Rustlers bolted up 10 spots.
SRJC received all 16 first-place votes as the Bear Cubs swept their second straight Big 8 Conference series, this time over #18 Cosumnes River.
The South Coast is moving on up as Cerritos took the Lyft to #2 as SoCal's new top-rated team while Mt. San Antonio grabbed an Uber up two blocks to #4. Winners of 11 in a row, the Falcons swept Compton, then Pasadena City, but the Mounties, currently on a 13-game win streak, have kept pace with 3-game series sweeps over El Camino and East Los Angeles. Both squads are 6-0 to top the SCC.
Fresno City skipped up two to #3 as the Rams are on fire, winning 14 consecutive and starting Central Valley play at 9-0.
Three Orange Empire teams still are part of the top 10 as Riverside City rock-climbed three pegs to #5 while #7 Cypress and #8 Saddleback fell out of the top 3. The Tigers took two of three contests v. Saddleback to open OEC play.
Ohlone rose to #6, but after starting the season on a 12-game win streak, the Renegades are 5-3 in their last eight, including Saturday's 14-13 loss to Chabot, the highest point voted team not in the top 25. The Coast Conference and Bay Valley will finally begin their conference schedules this week.
Cypress, which fell five positions, recovered from losing a pair of games v. unranked Canyons by beginning Orange Empire play at 3-1, including Monday's 8-2 victory over Saddleback.
West Valley has won four straight to gain traction in the rankings. Golden West is on a 6-game win string, including an OEC-opening sweep over Irvine Valley.
More serious movement included Feather River using a 6-game win streak to soar skyward seven ratings to #11 as it leads the Golden Valley race at 7-2 while Skyline jumped up seven spots to #12. The Trojans have won 12 of their last 14, including triumphs over West Valley and #24 Monterey Peninsula.
Despite 15 teams among the two divisions, the Western State has just one team ranked in #16 Antelope Valley, which won two of three v. LA Valley.
Of the Top 25 newbies, #20 Cerro Coso joins #14 Chaffey to represent the Inland Empire Athletic Conference, including winning two of three v. AVC.
At #21, Sacramento City gives the Big 8 a ranking-best five teams along with Santa Rosa, #13 Sierra, #17 Folsom Lake, and #18 Cosumnes River. The Panthers have won five in a row, winning two straight v. Folsom Lake to take that series, and is currently second in the Big 8 standings at 5-1.
Two more Pacific Coast Athletic teams joined #15 Palomar as ranking newcomers #22 San Diego Mesa and #23 Grossmont. The Comets split a 2-game set v. Grossmont, then swept Mesa and have the PCAC lead at 5-1. Mesa took two from San Diego City and is tied with the Griffins for second place at 4-2.
