Forty-eight teams start quest for Women's Basketball state title this week

The field of 48 teams throughout the state are set for the 3C2A Regional Playoffs that begin with first round games on Wednesday, Feb. 28.
Butte College (27-1 record) received the #1 seed in the North Region and will have a first-round bye with seven other teams. Mt. San Antonio (26-2) earned the South Region top seed as that region also has eight teams with opening round byes.
Butte, the Golden Valley Conference champions, will host the winner of #16 Hartnell v. #17 Diablo Valley on Saturday, Mar. 2 in the regional quarterfinals while Mt. SAC (26-2), the South Coast Conference North Division champs, face the winner of #16 San Diego Mesa v. #17 West Los Angeles.
In the South Regionals, the Western State Conference has a remarkable 11 teams out of 24 seeds participating with two top eight seeds in #2 Moorpark, the WSC North champions, and #3 Glendale, the WSC South first-place squad.
In the North, the Big 8 Conference and Coast Conference has seven teams advancing each led by #2 San Joaquin Delta, the Big 8 champs, and #5 City College of San Francisco, the co-Coast North champions.
Defending state champion Orange Coast is the South #4 seed and hosts the winner of #13 East LA and #20 Canyons.
The tourney regional finals will be played on Saturday, Mar. 9 and the top four remaining teams from each region will travel to the 3C2A State Championships on Mar. 14, 16-17 at Mt. San Antonio College.
