The Saddleback women's soccer team ran its unbeaten streak to 12 on Tuesday with a 3-0 victory over Santiago Canyon College inside the stadium. The Bobcats remain on top in the Orange Empire Conference with three games to play.
Saddleback pounced on the Hawks early, scoring twice in the first eight minutes of the game to grab control. Jinan Said connected on her ninth goal of the season off a pass from Danyela Jara in the seventh minute to give the Bobcats all they would need. On the next offensive possession, Katelyn Peters put a ball forward and Anjelina Nieto got a foot on it and drove it into the back of the net for a 2-0 advantage in the eighth minute.
Saddleback added an insurance goal in the 55th minute when Chloe Campagne was on the second half of successive headers and found the left side of the net for her first goal of the season. The ball was headed to Campagne by Anjelina Nieto, who picked up the assist.
Saddleback started Cameron Simmons in goal and she made three saves over the first 45 minutes in picking up the win. Gloria Gomez played the final 45 minutes, making four saves.
Saddleback is now 12-2-3 overall and 9-0-2 in Orange Empire Conference play. The Bobcats have a three-point advantage over Cypress College with three games remaining in the regular season.
The Bobcats ran their unbeaten streak to 12 games with the win. The last time the Bobcats lost was on September 17 in a non-conference ghame against Chaffey (3-2). Saddleback also recorded its ninth shutout of the season and fifth in the past six games. The Bobcats are currently riding a seven game winning streak.
Saddleback will try to make it eight straight wins on Friday when they host Orange Coast College. The Bobcats and Pirates are set to start at 1:00 PM inside the stadium.
