Pirates blank Victor Valley, 9-0
COSTA MESA -- It was a morning matchup with visiting Victor Valley College, but for the Orange Coast College men's tennis team, it was business as usual as the Pirates rolled to a 9-0 nonconference win over the visiting Rams on Friday.
The 10 a.m. start had little effect on the Pirates (7-1) as they dominated the Rams in games won, 96-13.
In doubles, the teams of Yosuke Tsuchiya/Elvis Dick and Jamieson McLellan/Luke Godding earned 8-0 wins, while at No. 1, the team of Ryan Magers/Coby Kaplan prevailed, 8-5.
McLellan. Dick and Godding continued putting up bagels on the scoreboard as they each earned 6-0, 6-0 wins in singles play. Tsuchiya was close behind with a 6-1, 6-0 victory, while Kaplan (6-1, 6-2) and Magers (6-3, 6-1) needed little effort to earn their singles wins.
The Pirates (7-1) will return to action on Tuesday at the OCC Tennis Complex against Irvine Valley, beginning at 2 p.m.
