BAKERSFIELD, CA - The Bakersfield College women's soccer team secured a 2-1 win over the Citrus College Owls. The game was defined by early goals and strong defensive efforts, with the Renegades Alexandra Gallardo leading the charge for her team.

Gallardo wasted no time, scoring her first goal in the 9th minute to give BC an early lead. Bakersfield continued to press, and Gallardo found the back of the net again just after halftime in the 51st minute, extending the Renegades' advantage to 2-0.

Citrus responded in the 58th minute to cut the deficit to 2-1. Despite increased pressure from Citrus, which included seven corner kicks throughout the match, Bakersfield's defense, led by goalkeeper Mercedes Ramirez's two key saves, held firm to secure the victory.

Bakersfield had a total of eight shots, with seven on target, while Citrus managed nine shots, three of which were on goal. Both teams played aggressively, with several yellow cards issued in the match's closing moments, but Bakersfield's early lead proved decisive.

With this victory, Bakersfield improved to 6-5-2 overall and 3-2-1 in conference play. Up next, the Renegades head out for a road match on Tuesday, then return home on Friday for a 1:30 pm game against Santa Monica.
