GAME ONE IS A WIN!

The FC women's basketball team is off to a good start winning its first game of the season on Friday against Chaffey College 71-63.

Playing in the Pasadena City College Sisterhood of Champions Crossover, the Hornets welcomed the 2024-25 basketball season with a nice win over a solid Chaffey squad. 

FC took a 16-8 lead in the first quarter, but Chaffey had other ideas pushing back with a 33-28 lead of its own in the second. With 23 seconds left in the first half, Kaylee Shimoda knocked down a three-pointer cutting down the Panthers lead to 33-31 by halftime.

Most of the third quarter was a back-and-forth war, but Fullerton managed to snatch a narrow 54-53 lead by the fourth. Hailey Lakey hit a nice jumper to put FC up for good at the six-minute mark. Another three-point shot by Shimoda put the team up 71-63 helping to seal the victory for the Hornets.

Xochitl Hood was the scoring leader for the game with 20 points, 7 boards, had 3 assists, and 3 steals. Kaylee Shimoda put up 16 points with 2 steals and 2 assists, while Erin Choi scored 13 points, had 6 assists, and 4 rebounds. Amya Iaonne chipped in with 11 points along with 2 rebounds and 2 assists.

Up Next: The Hornets (1-0 overall) will get back it again on Saturday, November 2nd when they take on Palo Verde College to wrap up the PCC Sisterhood of Champions Crossover. Tip-off is at 11:00 am. Watch it live here.
