Renegades open 2024-25 season with road trip to Santa Barbara

SANTA BARBARA – The 2024-25 Ohlone College women's basketball season got off to a tough start as the Renegades suffered a pair of non-conference losses over the weekend at Santa Barbara City College.
Ohlone opened with a 77-36 loss to host Santa Barbara on Saturday and closed its trip with a 77-51 loss to Santa Ana College on Sunday.
The Renegades found themselves trailing 12-0 to open the game against SBCC and couldn't recover. They were down 22-12 after the first quarter and trailed 37-19 at halftime.
Tia Stevenson came off the bench to score a game-high 17 points for the Renegades. She added 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Mahek Dhillon had a good all-around game with 9 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals. Thadar Set led Ohlone with 10 rebounds.
Ohlone had another slow start against Santa Ana on Sunday as the Dons opened the game with a 7-0 run and led 25-15 after the opening quarter. The Renegades outscored Santa Ana 21-15 in the third quarter but the deficit was too much to overcome.
Stevenson once again led Ohlone with 14 points. She added 6 rebounds and 4 steals. Set had 13 points and 7 boards while Dhillon was just a rebound short of a double-double with 12 points and 9 boards.
Ohlone, now 0-2, is back in action on Friday (Nov. 8) when it opens play at the two-day Don Barksdale Classic at College of Marin. The Renegades face Marin at 5 p.m. and take on Yuba College on Saturday at 1 p.m.
