(Long Beach, CA) The Mt. SAC Beach Volleyball Team split a pair of South Coast Conference matches Friday (3/22) with a win over Rio Hondo, 4-1 and a 5-0 setback to Long Beach City College at Granada Beach.
The Mounties overall record stands at 7-5 and 1-3 in conference.
Mt. SAC 1's Juliana Gomez/Samantha Neely reached the 10-win match plateau this season with a split in their two matches.
They easily defeated the Rio 1's (21-13, 21-15) and nearly beat Long Beach City taking them to three sets. Gomez/Neely won the first set, 21-18 and lost a close second set, 23-21 to even the match at 1-1. The third and deciding set, the Mountie pair lost, 15-9.
Mt. SAC's No. 4 pair of Macy Barnes/Jessica Morse also came, oh, so close to beating the Vikings' 4's, falling in two close sets that went to extra points, 22-20, 23-21.
The Mounties play their last two away dual matches next Friday (3/29) against El Camino and Santa Ana at El Camino, before their "inaugural" home match Friday (4/12).
They will also take their second out to state road trip to Phoenix, Arizona for four matches, April 5-6.
They will play Arizona Christian University, Cal Poly SLO, University of Alabama, Birmingham and Grand Canyon University.
