Walnut, Calif. – In their highest scoring game of the season, the Mt. SAC Women's Basketball Team crushed El Camino 82-21. After this game, the Mounties' record improves to 15-3, while the Warriors are still looking for their first win with a record of 0-16.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Mounties wasted no time in taking the lead, with Alana Diaz landing a layup just seven seconds into the game. Daisia Mitchell and Taliyah McFerson followed up with quick baskets, and Mt. SAC's offense continued to roll with fast, sharp passes around the perimeter and sneaky bounce passes inside. The Mounties also showed perfect form at the free-throw line, hitting all seven attempts. The Warriors' only point in the first quarter came from a free throw by Presley Tanaka, leaving the score 26-1 at the end of the period.
In the second quarter, Mt. SAC began rotating in its bench players, giving everyone a chance to contribute. Destiny King and Frances Potts each scored four points, while Loremy Lopez added a three-pointer. Naomi Acuna and Skylar Henrich chipped in with two points apiece. Bella Blum kept El Camino's hopes alive with six points, but the Warriors were still far behind, trailing 41-9 at halftime.
The Warriors came out strong in the third quarter, with Blum and Keloa Tauala hitting jump shots to spark a brief rally. However, the Mounties quickly shut down any momentum with a relentless scoring attack. Mt. SAC capitalized on El Camino's struggles with ball control, converting 31 Warrior turnovers into 43 points. The Warriors managed just three points off Mt. SAC's 13 turnovers. Additionally, the Mounties outscored El Camino 18-0 in fast-break points, with the Warriors unable to score on any fast-break opportunities despite occasional steals.
In the final quarter, Mt. SAC added 21 more points, finishing with a commanding 61-point margin, marking their largest win of the season.
