Late goals lift Cats past Rustlers

The Saddleback women's soccer team kept pace with the rest of the Orange Empire Conference with a 2-0 win over Golden West College on Tuesday in Huntington Beach.  The Bobcats scored two late goals to beat the Rustlers.

Saddleback and Golden West were locked in a scoreless tie when Saddleback struck to snag a victory.  Aubrey Perez had an unassisted goal in the 80th minute to give the Bobcats a 1-0 lead.  It was Perez's second goal of the season.

Five minutes later, Saddleback made it 2-0 when Anjelina Nieto took a ball from Jinan Said and planted it in the back of the net.  It was Nieto's fourth goal in the past three games and iced the game for the Bobcats.

Saddleback started Gloria Gomez at goalkeeper and she recorded six saves in improving to 2-0-1 on the season.

Saddleback is now 5-2-2 overall and 2-0-1 in Orange Empire Conference (OEC) play.  The Bobcats are tied for third place with Cypress College, one-half game back of both Santiago Canyon College and Orange Coast College.

Saddleback will continue OEC play on Friday when they travel to Santiago Canyon.  The Bobcats and Hawks are scheduled to start at 3:00 PM in Orange.
