Pirates keep winning with rout over Dons

SANTA ANA -- It was another dominating performance for the No. 2-ranked Orange Coast College women's basketball team as the Pirates cruised to an 82-49 Orange Empire Conference win over Santa Ana College on Friday night at SAC.

On a team with a revolving door of leading scorers, it was freshman guard Zoie Lamkin, who had the hot hand, scoring her season high of 29 points to go along with five rebounds and four steals for the back-to-back state champs (18-3, 5-0 in the OEC). Melaiah Joseph added 17 points and 14 rebounds, while Myia Collins notched her sixth double-double of the season with 14 points and 12 rebounds.

For the Dons (16-6, 3-3), Larissa Robles led the way with 17 points, while Anaya Beard added 14. The rest of the SAC squad combined for just 8-of-32 shooting (25%) for the game.

After Coast grabbed a 15-13 lead after one quarter, the Pirates found another gear, outscoring the Dons 50-24 over the next two quarters to blow the game open.

That win gives OCC 26 conference wins in a row and 30-1 over the past 31 OEC matchups, dating back to the 2022-23 season.

Coast will wrap up the opening round of conference play on Wednesday inside the Peterson Gym against Irvine Valley College, beginning at 5 p.m.
