(Walnut, CA) The Mt. SAC Women's Tennis team remains in first place in the South Coast Conference with an 8-1 win over visiting El Camino.
With the win, the Mounties improved to 6-3 overall and 4-0 in the conference. El Camino slips to 1-7 and 1-2.
With their fifth consecutive win, the Mounties won all three doubles matches and five out of six singles matches.
The No. 1 Julianna Vich (6-0, 6-0), No. 2 Paige Valenzuela (6-2, 6-0), and No.3 Azalia Rodriguez (6-1, 6-0) singles all swept their opponents. Between the three, only three games were dropped by the Mounties.
The other two Mountie singles winners went the distance – No. 5 Haley Garcia (3-6, 6-4, 10-4) and No. 6 Amber Lara (6-1, 4-6, 10-3).
All three doubles teams easily won – No. 1 Vich/Valenzuela (8-0), No. 2 Anh Nguyen/Sage Youchak (8-3), and No. 3 Joana Cordova/Jocelyn Aviles (8-1).
The SCC Tournament begins Friday, April 5.
