Knights' Offense Explodes for 16 Runs in Home Opener
The Knights put on a show in their home opener on Friday as they beat L.A. Harbor, 16-1, with Santiago Gomez earning the win after pitching six shutout innings. Catcher Connor Stewart went 3-for-5 with two RBI and two runs, and first baseman Justin Kerby went 2-for-4 with a home run, four RBI and two runs.

Catcher Connor Stewart went 3-for-5 with two RBI and two runs, and first baseman Justin Kerby went 2-for-4 with a home run, four RBI and two runs.
City, which improved to 2-3 on the season, got rolling early by putting up seven runs off six hits in the second inning to take a 7-0 lead. Three of those hits were RBI-doubles from Julian Nunez, Jackson Huntley, and Kerby.
The Knights added a run in the third inning, two runs in the fourth off Kerby's homer to left field, and four more in the fifth inning. With the bases loaded in the fifth, Gabe Jones cleared the bases with a triple and then scored on a Kerby ground out to give the Knights a 14-0 lead.
City's final two runs came in the sixth on a Drew Lazor pinch-hit RBI-single and a Derrick Wiley RBI fielder's choice, also in a pinch-hit situation.
Los Angeles Harbor avoided a shutout by getting a run in the top of the seventh. They had runners at second and third base, but reliever Nolan Kubilus shut the door on Harbor by striking out the next batter, his third strikeout of the inning.
The Knights have a few days off before their next game at Victor Valley on Thursday, Feb. 17 at 1 p.m.
