The Saddleback women's soccer team defeated Irvine Valley College, 3-0, on Tuesday afternoon inside the stadium. Anjelina Nieto scored her first two goals of the season in the win.
Nieto (pictured) opened the scoring in the 30th minute when she took a feed from Aubrey Perez and planted it in the net. It was part of a first half where Saddleback outshot Irvine Valley 8-0.
Nieto scored her second goal of the game in the 61st minute off a pass from Mason Morton for a 2-0 lead. She then led Hannah Allen with a perfect pass in the 69th minute and Allen buried the shot in the net for a 3-0 lead.
Saddleback controlled the tempo from the outset. Irvine Valley never had a shot the entire game, and rarely possessed the ball in the offensive zone throughout. The Bobcats finished with a 14-0 advantage in total shots and a 7-0 advantage in shots on goal. Saddleback also held a 6-0 lead in corner kicks.
Saddleback is now 4-2-1 overall and 1-0 in Orange Empire Conference play following the win. The Bobcats have a big game on the road this Friday when they travel to Cypress College to take on the top-ranked team in the state. Saddleback and Cypress are set to start at 3:00 PM in Cypress.
