BALANCED ATTACK NETS THE WIN

The No. 3 in state Hornets hit the road on Saturday to take on the Eagles of Mt. San Jacinto College and cruised to an 88-68 win.

With the win, Fullerton improves to a 6-1 record, while the Eagles dropped to 3-4 overall.

After Justin Davis stole the ball, Kairi Shepherd scored the first two points of the game driving down court for a quick lay-in. The Eagles soon retaliated by drilling a three-pointer for a 3-2 lead. JQ Strong knocked down a jumper that started an 8-2 run that put the Hornets up 11-5 at the 13th minute. By 8:56, Mt. San Jacinto came screaming back to tie the game up at 17 apiece. Another Hornet run that was highlighted by Brayden Smith's dunk putting the team up 40-26 with 1:26 left in the half. The Eagles could only manage one more bucket before the halftime buzzer. 

Fullerton added 7 unanswered points at the top of the second half for a 53-28 lead that was capped by Addy G'Bye's three-pointer. By the 12:01 mark, the Hornets had exploded for their largest lead of 32 (67-35) that ended with a layup by Jaqari Miles. Not letting off the gas, FC kept the Eagles at bay for the remainder of the contest earning the team its 6th victory of the season.

The Hornets outshot the Eagles 42.2% to 40.3% and outrebounded their opponent 47-37. Fullerton also 14-19 (73.7%) from the free throw line and forced 13 turnovers for 12 points. FC only turned the ball over 4 times.

It was a balanced offensive attack with four Hornets scoring in double-digits in JQ Strong (14 points), Jaqari Miles (12 points), Addy G'Bye (10 points), and Joe Grahovac (10 points). Two players scored 9 points, Justin Davis and Darvelle Wyatt. Brayden Smith put up 7 points and Jackson Hopps scored 5.  

Up Next: No. 3 Fullerton (6-1 overall) will be hitting the road again next Saturday, November 30th when they take on No. 7 San Diego City College. Game time is at 2:00 pm.
