Pirates blank Imperial Valley
IMPERIAL VALLEY -- It was a very successful road trip for the Orange Coast College men's tennis team as the Pirates knocked of host Imperial Valley College, 9-0, on Friday at IVC.
Coast went a perfect 12-for-12 in singles sets, with victories earned by Amir Rezaeinezhad (6-0, 6-0), Jie Kashiwagi (6-0, 6-1), Luke Godding (6-4, 6-2), Yusuf Elshahed (6-3, 6-0), Noe Viera (7-6, 6-4) and Alex Eriksson (6-1, 6-2).
It was more of the same dominance for the Pirates in doubles as Coast won 24-of-31 games to capture all three matches. Wins came from Rezaeinehad/Kashiwagi (8-3), Viera/Josh Hennig (8-1) and Eriksson/Taiki Sakai (8-3).
The Pirates (4-2 overall) will open up Orange Empire Conference play at the OCC Tennis Complex on Tuesday against Fullerton, beginning at 2 p.m.
