WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL: FC FALLS IN PLAYOFF THRILLER

WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL: FC FALLS IN PLAYOFF THRILLER

The No. 14 Hornets lost in a five-set thriller 3-2 against No. 3 El Camino College in their first playoff appearance since 2015. Oddly enough, the Hornets lost 3-2 in the first round at El Camino back then too.

Fullerton got the jump on the Warriors in the first set stunning them 23-25. Set two was another close battle, but El Camino claimed a 25-23 win. The Warriors came out hot in the third set and ran away with it 16-25. FC was not about to give up as they took the fourth set 22-25, but the Warriors proved why they were the higher seed taking the game 15-6.

FC's Amanda Henderson lit up the gym with a team-high 25 kills and 18 digs. Kailyn Case delivered 46 assists, had 6 digs, and 3 kills. Lauren Schaefer and Andrea Lopez both had 10 kills each. Shaefer added 16 digs and Lopez 10. Carlie Ortega ran the floor with 27 digs along with 4 aces.

It was a winning season for first-year head coach Megan Glennie, who turned the FC women's volleyball program around after missing the playoffs the past two seasons. Fullerton beat some formidable teams in the Orange Empire Conference (Cypress, Riverside, Golden West, Saddleback) placing fourth overall with a record of 10-6 (15-8 overall). The future is bright for the Hornets as they build from this season's success.
