SOFTBALL: SAN DIEGO TRIP

Over the weekend Fullerton's Softball team avoided the rain by traveling to the San Diego area.  FC played San Diego Mesa on Friday, and on Saturday the Hornets finished the trip playing against Grossmont College in a double header.

The Hornets battled throughout the game on Friday, but they were not able to come up with the win falling to the Olympians 10-4.

On Saturday, Fullerton played a double header against Grossmont College and swept the Griffins 11-3 and 16-6.

In the first game the Hornets offense exploded in the 3rd inning. The team was able put up 7 runs. In the 4th inning Fullerton's offense continued to shine and 3 runners were able to cross home plate. The Hornets couldn't have gotten the win without Pitcher Natasha Trujillo's (5- 5) performance. She didn't walk any hitter and she had 5 strikeouts.

In game two, the Hornets put up 8 runs in the 2nd inning. In the 4th inning, Fullerton extended the lead by adding 3 more runs. In the 5th and last inning for the Hornets five players crossed home plate. Deanna Gonzalez (1-1) only allowed 1 hit in the first two innings she pitched. Reliever Shelby Boehmer closed the game out by also just allowing 1 hit during the time she was in the circle.

Up Next: The Hornets (6-9 overall) will visit Orange Coast College on Wednesday, March 7. The game will start at 3:00 pm. On Friday, March 9 the Hornets will host their archenemy Cypress College. The game will start at 2:00 pm.
