Walnut, Calif. – The Mt. SAC Baseball Team continued its dominant run with a 4-1 victory over East Los Angeles in the first game of a three-game series on Tuesday, March 4. The win improves the Mounties' record to an impressive 15-3 overall and a perfect 4-0 in conference play, while the Huskies fall below .500 at 8-9 overall and 3-4 in conference action.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Mt. SAC got things going in the first inning, loading the bases after a walk to Bryan Bradshaw, a single from Landon White, and a pitching error that allowed Ty Thomas to reach base. Though Diego Ortiz grounded into a double play, Bradshaw crossed home plate, giving the Mounties an early 1-0 lead.
ELAC fired back in the top of the seventh when Mahki Clark hit a sacrifice fly to center field, scoring Matias Nolasco to tie the game at 1-1.
But the Mounties were determined to come out on top as they went for a three-run rally in the bottom of the eighth. Singles from Noah Rodriguez and Bradshaw, along with a walk to Thomas, loaded the bases once again. A Huskies walk brought in Rodriguez to break the tie, and Tyler Stull followed with a clutch double, driving in Thomas and Bradshaw to secure the 4-1 win.
Izeah Muniz was incredible on the mound, striking out 10 batters while allowing just two hits and one earned run over seven innings. Josh Torres relieved him in the eighth to earn the win, and Sam Silversmith closed out the game to lock it down.
