Warriors Drop Sixth Straight on Friday Night

TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College dropped a 103-89 non-conference contest to visiting Santa Ana on Friday night at the ECC Gym Complex.
The Warriors dropped their sixth straight contest despite getting 18 points from Daxen Walton and 13 points from Gavin McKinnon. Jedaiah Mortimer set a new season high with eight assists while three players recorded three steals.
The visiting Dons were able to overcome 35 turnovers thanks to 35 points and 16 rebounds from Mac West and 23 points with nine boards from Jackson Brennan. The Dons also shot 47 free throws on the night, making 33 of them to help nullify the miscues. They also pulled down 73 rebounds as a team compared to 36 for the Warriors.
The Warriors fired away from distance, taking 70 3-pointers. They made 17 while the Dons only attempted eight on the night but the free-throw disparity proved too much to overcome as ECC made 16 trips to the charity stripe, making just eight of them.
The Warriors fell behind by 18 points with 14:14 left in regulation but managed to cut that deficit down to just two points when McKinnon made a layup with 7:30 left to make it 83-81.
The Dons would squash the rally though as they rolled off a 13-2 scoring run to regain the double-digit lead and the Warriors could not recover.
The team will return to action on Wednesday night with a South Coast Conference non-divisional tilt against L.A City. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m.
