The Knights erased a 3-run deficit with four runs in the sixth inning, but Grossmont regained the lead and went on to defeat City, 7-4, on Tuesday afternoon.
Grossmont took a 3-0 lead in the third inning after hitting two solo home runs and an RBI single off starting pitcher Anthony Pizzo.
The Knights didn't get on the board until the sixth inning when they exploded for four runs to take the lead. Two of City's runs were scored off Grossmont errors, while the other two came off a Bryan Reyes RBI single and a Cesar Fitch sacrifice fly.
Unfortunately for the Knights, the Grossmont Griffins responded with two runs off an error and sacrifice fly to regain a 5-4 lead.
City couldn't get anyone on base in either the 7th or 8th innings and Grossmont added two insurance runs in the 9th.
Joey Wozniak led the bottom of the 9th off with a walk, but he was left stranded as the Knights' two-game win streak came to an end.
The teams will meet at Grossmont on Thursday at 2 p.m. before playing the series finale at Morley Field on Saturday at noon.
