Mounties Women’s Water Polo Comes Up Even at Golden West Invite

The Mt. SAC Women's Water Polo Team had a competitive day at the Golden West Invite on Friday, October 11, splitting their matches with a narrow 13-12 loss to Golden West and an impressive 11-6 victory over Southwestern.

In the first game, the Mounties fought valiantly, with Carolyn Kao leading the charge by scoring four goals. Rachel Donahue contributed three goals, while Gianna Gomez and Vayda Saucedo each added another two. Despite their efforts, the game came down to the final minutes, resulting in a tough loss.

Undeterred, the Mounties regrouped for their second match, coming back strong to secure an 11-6 win against Southwestern. This victory brings their overall record to 8-7-1 and maintains their impressive conference record at 3-0-1.

Looking ahead, the Mounties will face a critical conference matchup against Long Beach on Wednesday, October 16, at 3:00 PM. Long Beach currently leads the South Coast Conference with a 19-1 overall record and a 4-0 conference record, and they are ranked No. 1 in the state.
