Bakersfield, CA – The Bakersfield College Renegades overcame a slow start with a dominant second-half performance to secure a 73-59 victory over the Coalinga College Falcons Wednesday evening at the Gil Bishop Sports Center.
Both teams battled through inconsistent shooting in the first half, with Bakersfield holding a narrow 28-23 lead at halftime. The Renegades shot just 38.2% from the field and 16.7% from beyond the arc in the opening period but capitalized on Coalinga's 13 turnovers to gain an edge.
Leviticus Latu and Ollie Fell led the way early for BC, combining for 14 first-half points by halftime.
The Renegades came out of the break with renewed energy, improving their shooting to 50% in the second half and outscoring Coalinga 45-36. Bakersfield's defensive pressure translated into 17 steals and 33 points off turnovers, disrupting the Falcons' rhythm.
Fell was a force in the paint, finishing with 18 points and 11 rebounds for his second double-double of the season. Lendl Henderson added 12 points and a game-high 11 rebounds, while Latu finished the offense with 14 points and 8 assists.
Bakersfield's bench provided a significant boost, contributing 20 points, highlighted by Markell Brooks' 8-point effort.
The Renegades will head out for several road games starting this weekend as they travel to Oxnard this Saturday. Their next home game will be on December 20th against the El Camino Warriors.
