Women’s Water Polo Wraps Weekend in San Diego

SAN DIEGO, Calif. --- El Camino College had a busy weekend in San Diego as the team took part in the San Diego Miramar Mini Tournament on Friday followed by the Jaguar Mini Tournament hosted by Southwestern on Saturday.

SD MIRAMAR TOURNAMENT

PALOMAR 18, WARRIORS 10

The Warriors opened the weekend with a loss to the Comets despite holding a slim 6-5 lead at halftime. Unfortunately, the Comets dominated the second half, outscoring the Warriors 13-4 including a 9-2 advantage in the third period to put the game out of reach.

Freshman Savanna Kastigar led the way for ECC with six goals with Alexis Vasquez and Yanie Camarador adding two goals apiece to round out the scoring.

S.D. MIRAMAR 18, WARRIORS 7

The host Jets put this one away early, blitzing the Warriors with a 7-0 opening period. They added a 6-1 advantage in the fourth quarter to cement the win.

For the Warriors, Kastigar led the way again with three goals while Camarador scored twice. Vasquez and Rileigh Clark each added a goal to round out the scoring for the Warriors.

JAGUAR MINI TOURNAMENT

GROSSMONT 11, WARRIORS 4

It was a tight first half in the opening match at Southwestern but the Griffins outscored ECC 7-1 in the second half to pull away.

Kastigar scored three of the team's four goals and Carleigh Clark made eight saves in a losing effort.

WARRIORS 10, SOUTHWESTERN 6

A great second quarter proved to be the difference as the Warriors secured a win over the host Jaguars in the final match of the weekend.

Kastigar and Camarador led the way with four goals apiece with Olivia Mozian and Rileigh Clark scoring one goal apiece to round out the scoring.

Carleigh Clark made six saves in the cage to secure the victory.

The Warriors will make their home debut on Wednesday as they welcome Rio Hondo to the ECC Aquatics Center for a South Coast Conference tilt. The match is set to begin at 3 p.m.
