Mt. SAC Men’s Water Polo Team Defeated by Whittier College 16-12

In a challenging matchup on Wednesday, September 11, the Mt. SAC Men's Water Polo Team suffered their second consecutive defeat, falling to Whittier College with a final score of 16-12.

The game began with high intensity and competitive play, as both teams exchanged goals to end the first quarter tied at 3-3. However, Whittier College took control in the second quarter, creating a lead that Mt. SAC struggled to overcome. Despite a valiant effort, the team was unable to close the gap as Whittier maintained their advantage throughout the remainder of the game.

Despite not getting the win, Mt. SAC still had some strong performances with Michael McMillan scoring four goals on five attempts for a shooting percentage of 80% and Trevor Davis adding two goals and one assist to contribute to the team's offensive efforts. Goalkeeper Henry De Luna recorded 4 saves.

Whittier College demonstrated exceptional accuracy, scoring 16 goals on 22 attempts for a shooting percentage of 72.7%. In contrast, Mt. SAC netted 12 goals in 24 attempts, resulting in a shooting percentage of 50%, which contributed to their defeat.

The team is ranked No. 9 in the latest CCCWPCA poll and will aim to regroup and address key areas of improvement in preparation for their next game against Occidental College on Friday, September 13, at 11:00 AM.
