COSTA MESA -- It was a solid performance against one of the top teams in the state, but a pair of late goals stole the glory from the Orange Coast College women's soccer team as the Pirates fell to Pasadena City College, 2-0, on Friday at the OCC Soccer Complex.
Taking on the No. 3-ranked Lancers (7-0), the Pirates (1-3-1) carried a good portion of play inside the PCC side of the field, but struggled to get that high-quality scoring opportunity throughout the game.
Both teams played scoreless soccer for most of the contest, but finally, in the 77th minute, PCC's Angely Puga found the back of the net off an assist from Hailey Hull to put the guests in front, 1-0. Just four minutes later, a header from Hull found it's mark and the Lancers had some breathing room for the final minutes of play.
OCC goalkeeper Leila Saldic was solid in goal with seven saves, while PCC's Francesca Agliolo notched three saves in the shutout win.
Coast will return to action on Tuesday at Mt. San Jacinto College, beginning at 3 p.m. OCC's next home game will take place on Sept. 24 against Rio Hondo, also at 3 p.m.
