Mounties Defeat El Camino 3-2, Remain Undefeated in South Coast Conference

In one of the most highly anticipated matchups of the season, the Mt. SAC Women's Soccer Team emerged victorious with a thrilling 3-2 win against rival El Camino on Friday, October 25. his victory improves Mt. SAC's overall record to 10-4-3 and keeps them unbeaten in the South Coast Conference at 6-0.

The Mounties started strong, with Kathryn Davis netting the first goal in the 16th minute, giving them a 1-0 lead. Just nine minutes later, Michelle Vazquez extended the lead to 2-0 with a well-placed shot, ensuring Mt. SAC's advantage by the end of the first half.

El Camino fought back in the second half, as Sarahi Sanchez scored for the Warriors in the 50th minute, narrowing the score to 2-1. However, Mt. SAC responded quickly, with Brianna Bernal finding the back of the net in the 66th minute to extend the lead to 3-1.

Despite a late surge from El Camino, highlighted by Sanchez's second goal in the 79th minute, Mt. SAC held on for the hard-fought victory. Goalkeeper Anai Olmedo played a crucial role in defense, making three saves to secure the win.

The Mounties will host LA Harbor on Tuesday, October 29, at 7:00 PM. LA Harbor currently holds a record of 4-9-1 overall and 2-4 in conference play.
