San Diego City struck first in the 6th minute, as Desiree Garcia found the back of the net to give her team an early lead. That lead didn't last long as Compton equalized in the 19th minute on a goal from Anahi Rodriguez.
San Diego City, however, regained a 2-1 lead after Macias' first goal of the day at the 30-minute mark. Then, in the 44th minute, Garcia netted her second goal of the game (third of the season), to give the Knights a 3-1 advantage at the break.
In the second half, San Diego City's Macias struck again off a pass from Lindsay Soto to extend their lead to 4-1 in the 55th minute.
Compton mounted an impressive comeback, starting with a goal from Emmy Carrillo Bravo in the 59th minute. Rodriguez added another in the 77th minute to cut the deficit to 4-3 and Georgina Moreno scored the equalizer seven minutes later.
