Renegades win two at Cosumnes River Classic

SACRAMENTO – The Ohlone College women's volleyball team has proven it can win in a variety of ways.
On Wednesday, the Renegades won both its matches at the Cosumnes River Classic at Cosumnes River College. Ohlone came out on top in five sets against Modesto Junior College and the host CRC Hawks.
The Renegades opened the event with a 25-20, 20-25, 25-20, 25-16, 15-13 win over Modesto. That was followed by another marathon match that Ohlone eventually won by scores of 26-24, 28-26, 25-19, 14-25, 15-7.
Hannah Issenmann led the Renegades against Cosumnes River with 12 kills while adding 6 digs, 4 aces, and 3 blocks. Rilee Nobori had 10 kills and Savannaj Le chipped in with 8 kills.
Kaylie Gomes had a match-high 23 digs and served up 5 aces. Ruby Santos posted 29 assists and 13 digs while Alicia Cornejo also had 13 digs.
Ohlone improved to 7-2 overall after the two victories. Four of those wins have come in five-set battles, the other three have come by sweeps.
The Renegades will look to keep the momentum going when they play at Diablo Valley College on Friday (Sep. 13) at 6 p.m.
