No. 1 Fullerton opened the Orange Empire Conference series at home against Santa Ana on Monday and held the Dons scoreless 4-0.
FC dropped a non-conference game at No. 11 El Camino College on Saturday 2-1, but the OEC champions picked it back on Monday with a solid win to remain undefeated in conference at 19-0.
Fullerton brought two runs across in the bottom of the first when Alyssa Garcia hammered a double to left field with the bases loaded scoring both Jianna Lopez and Veronica Moore.
The Hornets added two more security runs in the fifth on Jianna Lopez's ground-out that gave Haley Garcia the chance to score from third base. Alyssa Garcia went back to work with a strong single up the middle that plated Caitlyn Stear.
FC starting pitcher Macy Brandl (18-2) threw a complete-game shutout game allowing just a hit with no walks and racked up 9 strikeouts.
Up Next: The No. 1 Hornets (33-4 overall, 19-0 OEC) will play game two of the three-game series at home with Santa Ana this Tuesday, April 23rd. The first pitch goes out at 3:00 pm.
