(Whittier, CA) Behind a balanced offensive attack, Mt. SAC (16-5, 1-0) opened South Coast Conference (SCC) North Division play with a, 47-43, win over Rio Hondo (15-6, 0-1) on Wednesday, Jan. 22.

Mina Guevera-Goss led the Mounties with nine points, while teammates Aujane Mayes and Taylor Shelby contributed eight points each. Ashton Hudson grabbed a team-high eight rebounds and teammate Skylarr Little pulled down seven. Guevera-Goss, Mayes, and Remy Hare had six rebounds apiece.

The Mounties led by as many as 18 points early in the third quarter and with exception of one tied score, never surrendered the lead through the 40 minutes of game.

Mt. SAC has won eight straight and will continue SCC North Division play, at home, against Los Angeles Trade Tech (13-8, 0-1) on Friday, Jan. 24, at 5 p.m.
