Early season expectations are proving to be challenging for the GCC Women's Basketball Team as its record fell to 4-2 this season after splitting a pair of games last week, beating Fullerton College 72-52 Nov. 20 and falling to Moorpark College 50-33 Nov. 23. Both GCC losses have come against top rated teams in the CCCWBCA pre-season poll in which Glendale is ranked No. 6 . They fell to top rated Sequoias, 69-39 on November 9 and to No. 3 Moorpark last week.
In the win over Fullerton, All-State guard Malia Ulery led all players with 24 points, nine rebounds and five assists as Glendale shot 49 percent from the field and 40 percent from the three-point line. Karen Casillas. Maribel Rodriguez, Keilani Jung and Sammy Velasquez all had seven points each and Shadel Ffrench had eight rebounds.
GCC plays in the Orange Coast College crossover Dec. 6 against Rio Hondo College and against No. 3 ranked Orange Coast College Dec.7. Both games start at 5 pm.
