SACRAMENTO – The 2024-25 season got off to a tough start for the Rio Hondo College men's basketball team as the Roadrunners suffered a 74-63 loss at Cosumnes River College on Saturday.
Rio Hondo trailed by just three points at halftime (27-24), but Cosumnes River outscored the Roadrunners 47-39 over the final 20 minutes to take the win.
Sophomore Kenny Hunt had a solid season debut for Rio Hondo, leading the squad with 15 points. Nate Carter and Caiden Brown both score 9 points each while Dorian Tate grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds to go with 7 points.
Rio Hondo, now 0-1, is back in action next Friday (Nov. 8) when the Roadrunners travel to Long Beach City College for a 5 p.m. South Coast Conference interdivision game.
