Canyons Wins Second Straight 1-0 Over Glendale

College of the Canyons' lone goal was enough to defeat visiting Glendale College on Friday by a 1-0 final score.

The Cougars (5-4-2) came out shooting in a Western State Conference (WSC), South Division match the ended in the second win in as many outings for COC,

The first half saw a combined 18 shots, seven for Glendale and 11 for COC. The Cougars got on the board with a penalty kick by sophomore Jorge Rojas who found the back of the net in he 36th minute to close out the first half.

The volume of shots in the second half was almost identical to the first. COC attempted 15 while Glendale had only attempted four. None of which for either team were successful, but the second half saw plenty of aggressive and competitive play. There were two yellow cards, one to each team, and a red card for Glendale, that left the Vaqueros a man short down the stretch.

With the man advantage COC was able to hold Glendale scoreless and close out the game.

Cougar sophomore goalkeeper Gabriel Ochoa held down the post, saving four shots from the Vaqueros.

After an important conference victory, COC will look to keep that momentum when they visit Victor Valley College at 2 p.m. on Tuesday.
