The Long Beach City College women's basketball team cruised to an impressive 69-42 win over College of the Canyons on Friday night, improving their season record to 9-5. The Vikings showcased their dominance by outscoring the Cougars in all four quarters, delivering a well-rounded performance on both ends of the court.
Sophomore forward Brillana Boyd led the charge with a stellar all-around performance, posting 14 points and seven assists. Freshman forward Reniya Walker was a force in the paint, earning a double-double with 13 rebounds and 12 points. Sharp-shooter Jasmine Hecht added 12 points, sinking four three-pointers to keep the Vikings' offense firing from long range.
"Tonight wasn't our sharpest performance, but we showed resilience and came together when it counted," said Head Coach Dominic Freeman. "In particular, our defensive effort in the second quarter stood out. We regrouped, found our rhythm, and played true Vikings basketball to secure the win against a tough College of the Canyons team."
The Vikings will look to carry this momentum into their next game against Moorpark College on Friday, Dec. 27. The matchup is set to tip off at 3 p.m. at East Los Angeles College.
