In a game that featured two teams tied for first place in the WSC South, the GCC Women's Basketball once again showed they are the team to beat in conference play as they extended a 40-15 halftime advantage to beat the visiting Antelope Valley College 72-39. Glendale is now in first place at 5-0 and they improved to 15-3 overall and are ranked No. 7 in the state.
Once again, the GCC depth and balanced play proved tough to beat as they led 13-0 in the early stages of the game and 20-6 after the first quarter thanks to three 3-pointers for nine points by Shushan Krikorian. Malia Ulery led GCC with 12 points and added six rebounds and four assists in just 26 minutes of play as 13 players took the court and 12 scored for the Lady Vaqs. Lisette Meza had 11 points, four steals and three assists and Shadel Ffrench had a game-high 13 rebounds, six off the offensive glass, and eight points.
Glendale continues WSC play with a home game at 5 pm Jan. 29 against Citrus College.
