What started out looking like a possible loss for the Falcons turned into a comfortable win as the home team pulled away in the second half to win 5-1 over College of Sequoias on Friday night at Falcon Stadium. The Giants found the net early with a breakaway in the 12th minute for a 1-0 lead while the Falcons struggled to find any kind of offensive momentum. Finally in the 36th minute, Abraham Iniguez scored off a corner kick, assisted by Tanner Boyea, to tie the score at 1-1.
After several adjustments were made at halftime, the Falcon offense started clicking, beginning with Iniguez' second goal of the day in the 53rd minute. Tanner Boyea followed that with a Penalty Kick goal in the 60th minute to make it 3-1. Newbie Chris Cearlock made his presence known with a dribble down the endline before crossing the ball to Boyea for a perfect volley, making it 4-1. And finally, Adrian Jimenez added a goal just as time was winding down to finalize the scoring at 5-1.
The Falcons' "Man of the Match" was Abraham Iniguez with 2 goals and 1 assist, while Ethan Atterberry and Tanner Boyea were lauded for pushing the team to work harder.
Next up, the Falcons will host West Hills-Lemoore (6-4-1 overall, 0-2 in Central Valley play) on Tuesday at 6:00 pm. at Falcon Stadium.
