BAKERSFIELD, CA - The Bakersfield College volleyball team swept the Antelope Valley College Marauders in a commanding 3-0 victory, with set scores of 25-15, 25-10, and 25-17. The Renegades dominated on both offense and defense, showcasing impressive performances across the board.
Leading the attack for BC was freshman Alexandra Watts, who posted a game-high 11 kills with a staggering .846 hitting percentage. Teammate Kamryn Briggs also contributed significantly with 8 kills on 17 attempts, hitting .412 while sophomore Stevie Yursik was another standout with 9 kills, adding 2 service aces to her all-around solid performance.
Setter Chloe Comstock orchestrated the offense with 16 assists while adding 4 service aces, and Taylor Drake contributed with 11 assists and 3 aces. Bakersfield's strong serving was evident as the team recorded 9 aces overall, putting consistent pressure on Antelope Valley's defense.
Defensively, Bakersfield was equally sharp, with a balanced effort with a total of 28 digs, as Chloe Lopez topped the charts with 8 digs. The Renegades also put up a solid blocking performance, tallying 6 block assists, led by Lucely Parra and Watts, who contributed to the team's defensive wall.
Next, the Renegades will travel to Glendale on Wednesday and return home for Alumni Night on Friday, October 18th to take on Citrus College at 6:00 PM.
