Congratulations to GCC Women's Volleyball Coach and Professor Yvette Ybarra for being selected as the awardee of the 2024 Dr. William L. Parker Exceptional Service Award
The Kinesiology Division would like to recognize the outstanding contributions of Professor Yvette Ybarra to Glendale College and the broader educational community.

Since joining Glendale College in 2001, Professor Ybarra has exemplified dedication and excellence in every aspect of her professional journey. With a master's degree in physical education from Azusa Pacific University obtained in 2005, she has consistently demonstrated her expertise and commitment to student success.
As the head coach of our women's volleyball team since 2002 and beach volleyball since 2018, Professor Ybarra has shown exceptional leadership and has significantly contributed to the development of our athletics programs. Her involvement does not stop at coaching; she has also been pivotal as the Learning Outcomes Faculty Coordinator. Alongside her co-partner, David Yamamoto, she has been instrumental in leading our college in the use of eLumen for assessment purposes, enhancing our educational strategies and student evaluations.

Within the Kinesiology Division, Professor Ybarra has played a crucial role in program review and Institutional Learning Outcomes, supported ably by Jason Plourde. Her dedication to curriculum enhancement and academic excellence is further exemplified in her teaching. Professor Ybarra instructs KIN 100 "Introduction to Kinesiology," a fundamental course for students aspiring to careers in kinesiology, exercise science, or physical education. Each spring, she also leads our PE 110/111/112 Indoor Cycling classes, where she has innovatively incorporated the Myzone Switch to motivate and monitor student performance, thus fostering an environment that not only promotes physical health but also mental and emotional well-being.

It is with great pride that Professor Yvette Ybarra will be honored at the annual Parker Luncheon on Friday, September 13, in the Student Center (SC212). This year, she will be presented with the 2023-2024 Dr. William L. Parker Exceptional Service Award, recognizing her significant contributions and unwavering commitment to our institution.

Please join us in celebrating Professor Ybarra's achievements and her profound impact on our community.
